Matching Talent to Opportunity: Aaron’s Journey with Hatua and Offshore Global Logistics

Every weekday, Aaron Masha dons his safety helmet and reflector jacket and starts ticking items off his to-do list at a warehouse in the heart of Mombasa’s industrial hub. From inspecting client goods for dispatch, receiving incoming deliveries from manufacturers, checking inventory levels, to updating clients with critical information that helps them make the right supply decisions, Masha calmly moves through the warehouse with a purpose and ease that one could easily mistake him for a senior-level manager.

Aaron Masha is a warehouse clerk at Offshore Global Logistics (OGL), a world-class logistics and supply chain firm offering a range of freight, warehousing, and distribution services to both local and international clients. Aaron joined the firm as an intern in February 2025, just as the company began a new base of operations in Mombasa.

In December 2024, Aaron graduated with a diploma in Procurement & Supply Chain Management from Meru University of Science and Technology. He landed his first role almost immediately after graduating, thanks to Hatua’s Employer Partnership program.

Aaron had been working with Hatua’s Alumni team to improve his CV and sharpen his interview skills when he got a call from Hillary (Hatua’s Alumni Officer) about a scheduled interview. “I did mock interview sessions with Hillary, Patricia, and Diana, and then four days later I got another call from HR at Offshore Global to schedule my actual interview.”

Aaron landed the role and has since been an instrumental member of Offshore Global Logistics’ Mombasa operations, where he was taken in and promoted to the role of warehouse clerk.

“Working with Aaron has been a nice experience because he is very dedicated to his work, and Masha is also a good team player – he can easily get along with people and interact well,” says Sam Abungu. “There’s a way we work as a team, and Masha fits in well here.”

Sam, Aaron’s supervisor and Warehouse Coordinator at Offshore Global Logistics’ Mombasa hub, was especially glad to have him on the team. At the beginning of 2024, Sam was transferred to Mombasa and tasked with the responsibility of setting up operations at OGL’s newest hub. Finding the right team to do this was his most important priority.

“My experience with Hatua has been a good one,” Sam says. “The team at Hatua gave me a lot of support. When I was referred to Daniel, he helped make sure I got the right candidate for the role we were offering.”

Aaron’s story is just one example of how Hatua’s Employer Partnership program is bridging the gap between education and employment. As Sam reflects on his experience, he shares a message with the wider community: “To Hatua’s network, I can confidently say you are one of the best organizations supporting the job market—connecting employers with the right talent and expertise to ensure the job gets done well.” It’s this kind of trust and collaboration that continues to open doors for young professionals like Aaron while helping companies grow with the right people in place.
