Bornveture’s journey through his internship at the Centre for Global Health Research (CGHR), Kemri Kisumu, is a shining example of how leadership and dedication can transform an experience into a success story.
Bornveture joined the KEMRI CGHR Student Mentorship/Attachment Program from September to December 2024 for his second attachment. There, he quickly emerged as a standout leader among his peers. He took charge of coordinating student affairs, organizing workshops, facilitating communication, and providing mentorship — all this while managing his own learning and development as a student at Kisii National Polytechnic.
Bornveture’s leadership wasn’t just about logistics, it was about creating a supportive and collaborative environment. He ensured daily attendance was maintained, helped resolve challenges amongst students, and built strong networks within the program. To his peers, he became a reliable mentor and a source of inspiration, fostering a sense of community and teamwork.
His efforts didn’t go unnoticed. At the end of his internship, KEMRI CGHR recognized his exceptional contributions, highlighting his professionalism, dedication, and ability to lead by example. The program’s success and the positive experience of the cohort were, in large part, attributed to his tireless work.
Bornveture’s journey is a testament to how internships, when embraced with passion and responsibility, can become powerful stepping stones toward personal and professional growth.
He continues to play a vital role in guiding other Hatua scholars who aspire to intern at KEMRI Kisumu, connecting them to his well-established network.
The KEMRI mentorship community will remember him not just as a participant but as a role model who set a high standard for those who follow. As he moves forward in his career, the skills and values he demonstrated during this internship will undoubtedly continue to guide his path to success.
